RNLI lifeguard equipment stolen from Pembrey beach

RNLI lifeguards at Pembrey beach, Burry Port were shocked to find that two of their all terrain vehicles (ATV) had been stolen from their locked containers over-night.

The charity’s lifeguards locked the vehicles in a secure container as they finished their patrol on Pembrey beach 6pm on Sunday noght. But as they arrived to offer their help and specialised lifesaving services to the public this morning, found that the lock had been broken with the door to the container wide open – the two ATVs were gone.

Neil Thomas, RNLI Lifeguard Manager said:

‘Any theft is devastating but our equipment is specially designed to help protect the public on the beaches and to assist the RNLI Lifeguards to save lives at sea. The RNLI is a charity and we are able to provide the lifeguards with the best training and equipment due to generous donations by the public. It’s shocking to think that anyone could do this to a charity that helps save lives at sea.’

RNLI lifeguards have been offering beach safety advice and their lifesaving skills to the public at Pembrey beach this summer since 14th May.
