RNLI volunteers and RSPCA rescue cow fallen off cliffs

Tenby RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched at 11:30am yesterday morning (Wednesday) after a 20 month old heifer slipped down the Cliff at Giltar Point and became trapped at the base of the cliff with an incoming tide.

The RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew teamed up with the RSPCA and Tenby Coastguard team to recover the bewildered animal.

An RSPCA inspector was taken ashore by lifeboat to help supervise the recovery which involved the calf being towed gently to the safety of Tenby South beach. The head of the calf was cradled against the sponson during the short passage until it found it’s hooves on the soft sand and was able to walk up the beach.

The young cow was checked over and appeared unharmed from the incident. She will be staying in a barn in a local farm overnight where she can be kept under observation until the morning.
