A spectacular enviro-mentally friendly rock concert is set to take place later this year showcasing the talents of youngsters from throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The Enviro-Vision Song Quest competition organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Streetcare Team is now getting underway in all local schools across the County Borough. The students must then perform their own compositions based on one of several environmental themes including zero waste, reduce, reuse, recycle, Food waste recycling and environmental crime in the live show in July.
This will be the fifth annual Enviro-Vision Song Quest at Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd. The event, which is now a highlight in the events calendar for many will take place on 12th July 2011 from 7pm and will feature a special performance by Rhondda Cynon Taf’s very own X Factor star and former Enviro-Vision Song Quest winner – Tom Richards, who will also be judging this year’s competition.
The 2011 Enviro-Vision Song Quest will mark the fifth joint-project between the Council’s Streetcare Services Team, Learn thru song and Sonig Youth Music Industry, which is part of the Council’s Cultural Services department.
Councillor Anthony Christopher, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Front-line Services said: “Year on year the Enviro Vision Song Quest gets better and better. Undoubtedly the standard of this year’s performances will once again far surpass all previous years which seems unbelievable considering how high the standard has always been.
“The various themes running through the songs will clearly reflect our commitment to raising awareness of such issues as fly-posting, dog fouling, littering, recycling, flytipping, graffiti and we hope such messages will remain in the minds of all residents across the County Borough.”
