More than 800 people packed into St Thomas’s Church on Sunday (December 6) for a special pop concert that raised funds for local disadvantaged children at Christmas.
Emmerdale star Tom Lister entertained the audience with a selection of festive tunes and a superb performance by Kimmo brought the house down when he invited Councillor Glyn Pickering Mayor of Rhyl to participate in his act. Roars of laughter filled the church as this talented comedy ventriloquist was assisted by the Mayor who received a well deserved standing ovation at the end of the comedy routine.
Councillor Joan Butterfield, Chairman of Denbighshire County Council said “Christmas Pops yet again proved to be extremely popular and this year’s event certainly didn’t disappoint. It was full of laughter, tremendous talent and an eager audience wanting to get into the Christmas spirit. What better way to kick off the festive season?”
Other artistes performing on the show included Matthew Roberts, Sweet Gossip, Ysgol Emmanuel School Choir and not forgetting Staffordshire based The Cameleonz who all gave unforgettable performances.
Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: “The Christmas Pops was a fantastic event, with lots of great entertainment to get people in the mood for the festive season. “We have received a lot of positive feedback from people who attended the event, and really enjoyed all the entertainment on offer.”
