The invaluable work of volunteers across the Caerphilly county borough will be celebrated this weekend at a special event where BBC’s Roy Noble will make a special guest appearance.
Representatives from a range of organisations serving the community will come together at the annual ‘One Beat’ Voluntary Sector Awareness Day on Saturday 23rd October between 11am and 1pm at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters in Penallta House.
This year the organisations are encouraging residents and their families to come along and find out more about the outstanding work of a vast network of volunteers, who serve the community so tirelessly.
Mayor Cllr James Fussell said, “I am full of admiration and gratitude for the commendable work voluntary sector organisations do in our communities, and this event provides a real opportunity to celebrate this work.”
He continued, “The ‘One Beat’ event has a long history and symbolises the tremendous partnership that exists in our county borough between statutory bodies like the council, police, fire and health services and the voluntary sector.”
The 2011 edition of the Caerphilly County Borough Community Directory, which contains over 700 entries of useful contact details for local community groups, will also be launched at the event.
