The RSPCA is appealing for information after five kittens were found abandoned in a suitcase.
The three male and two female kittens were found at 1pm on Friday (1 August) by a member of the public on the footpath that runs at the back of Clive Street, Grangetown. One kitten had been stuck in the zipper of the suitcase.
The kittens, who are around nine weeks old, had fleas and dirt in their fur. One of the kittens had a sore right eye but they are in a healthy condition.
RSPCA animal collection officer Rachel Chapman said: “They are lovely kittens. It is just so sad that someone has just left them. We would rather the person called us first instead of just being irresponsible and abandoning their pets.”
The cats have been placed into our care and will be made available for rehoming if the owners do not come forward.
In another incident, a black and white cat and her 10-week-old kitten were found at around 9am on 28 July scratching and crying in a closed box in an alleyway to the side of Frank Road in Ely.
A kitten was also found near Moy Street in Roath on the same day (28 July) at around 4.30pm. The scared moggie who is grey/white in colour, had been running in and out of traffic.
