Running4Women Caerphilly 6k

RAW caerphillyRunning4Women, with support from Caerphilly County Borough Council, are bringing one of their women only races to Caerphilly – the Running4Women Caerphilly 6k. Parc Penallta is the venue for their first race outside Cardiff and it takes place on Sunday 13th July starting at 11am.

For several years Running4Women held a women only 8k in Cardiff but during that time the City has become saturated with events so they decided to take their event further afield and make it part of the Running4Women Race Series.

This event is ideal for first timers, the course is run around Parc Penallta on a mixture of road and trail – all totally traffic free. The course is undulating but this event is not just about running fast – it is about having fun, enjoying yourself and making new friends.

Running4Women’s aim is to encourage women of all ages and fitness levels to take up jogging and this event offers a range of categories that women can enter. Women can enter individually, groups of friends can enter and run as a team – if they wish they can run in fancy dress – it is all about having fun!

Unique to Running4women is the Generation Game where they encourage Mothers and daughters (or grandmothers!) to run together.

This year the Running4women Race Series benefitting Charity is Women Against Lung Cancer and all runners are encouraged to support WALC.

Cllr David Poole, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community & Leisure Services, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Running4Women on this 6k event at Penallta County Park. Caerphilly County Borough Council is always keen to support activities and events which promote health and wellbeing among our residents, and this new event is a welcome addition to the Caerphilly county borough sporting calendar.”
