Pupils in one Swansea Primary School will be entertaining Swansea’s Lord Mayor and other guests at a Proms in the Park style event to celebrate the construction of a traditionally-built roundhouse in their school grounds.
On Thursday July 8 Casllwchwr Primary School pupils will be staging a concert in the rustic building, which will serve as an outdoor classroom and performance space as part of the school’s commitment to outdoor learning.
The school orchestra and Dance Design will be helping the Summer Music Concert go with a bang while former pupil Chris Hughes, who currently treads the boards in the West End, with be putting in an appearance.
The building was created when the school teamed up with Swansea Council’s Employment Training section. Apprentices and trainees on placements with Employment Training gained valuable transferable skills in the process.
Casllwchwr Head Simon Pridham said:”As well as looking good and providing a great focal point for our outside space, the roundhouse will be a valuable resource in providing our pupils with a first class Foundation Phase and experiential learning opportunities.
“The PTA have been amazing in their efforts to raise £3,000 towards the project and our thanks go to Employment Training.”
