Business owners in Ruthin are being invited to attend a presentation on the findings of a mystery shopper exercise carried out as part of efforts to boost independent business trade in the town.
Denbighshire County Council and Skillsmart Retail, the Sector Skills Council for Retail, are working together to support the business and training needs of independent retailers in Ruthin.
During November and December 2011 a number of activities took place in Ruthin, including two separate mystery shopping days of which thirty independent shops were randomly selected, street interviews to find out what shoppers and visitors thought about the retail offer along with an audit of Ruthin and how it is comparable to other towns of a similar size and offer.
Owners are invited to attend the presentation at Ruthin Castle on Tuesday, 7 February at 5.45pm.
Michelle Rendell, Denbighshire’s Business Growth Officer, said: “This mystery shopper exercise was all about finding what independent retailers in Ruthin had on offer, as well as finding out what shoppers thought of businesses in the town centre.
“Ruthin has a wealth of independent businesses that have plenty to attract consumers. It’s all about tapping into the current offer and making sure that traders use the findings of our work to boost their businesses and have the confidence to compete against the larger out of town retail outlets.
The presentation will include feedback from the street interviews and audit which businesses may find beneficial along with prizes for the highest mystery shop results.
There will also be an opportunity to meet the Retail Skills Academy who deliver the Mary Portas retail master classes.
Anyone wishing to attend should confirm their attendance by emailing [email protected] or call 01824 708242 no later than Thursday 2nd February 2012.
