S4C will be holding a special event in January to discuss developments in the world of New Media. In its recent report to the Depatment for Culture, Media and Sport, S4C announced plans to place more emphasis on developing its online provision and to become a more active innovator in New Media.
Up to 50 people will have an opportunity to take part in the meeting at the MedRus Conference Centre on Aberystwyth University’s Penglais Campus on Thursday 13 January 2011 from 10.00am.
Following this event, S4C intends to establish a Forum where members will offer ideas to the channel as it develops its New Media strategy.
Dyfrig Jones, a member of the S4C Authority, said, “The time when we can speak of ‘new’ media is fast coming to an end. Interactive technology is part and parcel of the everyday lives of thousands of people by now. The aim of this forum will be look at how S4C can contribute to the growth of new technology through the medium of Welsh, and to formulate a strategy to guide us through the exciting years ahead.”
People who are keen to take part in the event should apply by visiting s4c.co.uk/nmforum and completing an online registration form before 28 December 2010.
