S4C will start broadcasting proceedings from the National Assembly of Wales from next Tuesday night (20 April) with a service entitled Y Dydd yn Y Cynulliad (The Day at The Assembly).
S4C announced in March that it intended to present broadcasts of Assembly proceedings on its main channel throughout the United Kingdom.
The Assembly’s full sessions and some committees will be broadcast on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from around 23:30 for up to six hours each night.
Iona Jones, Chief Executive of S4C, said, “Giving prominence to the National Assembly’s discussions on a channel which reaches all Welsh homes and Sky subscribers beyond Wales is an important commitment from S4C in this all-digital age.
“This is in line with the statement in our Programme Policy 2010 that we will continue to strengthen and expand our provision as a public service broadcaster.”
