S4C viewers will have an opportunity to express their views on the Channel in a live viewers’ programme Noson Gwylwyr S4C on Monday 25 October.
A panel representing the S4C Authority and the channel’s Chief Executive will answer viewers’ questions and members of the public will be able to phone, communicate on-line, tweet or write in before and during the programme to have their say about the Channel’s programmes and services.
S4C is going through one of the most challenging periods in its history. Noson Gwylwyr S4C will provide an opportunity for the audience to give its views on S4C’s programmes and services and on the future of the Channel.
One of S4C’s most popular presenters, Angharad Mair will host the hour-long programme. John Walter Jones, Chair of the S4C Authority, Arwel Ellis Owen, the channel’s Chief Executive and members of the Authority will be on the panel.
John Walter Jones said, “The opinions of our viewers are all-important to S4C and viewers’ evenings are held regularly throughout Wales. In the past year we’ve had an excellent response to viewers’ meetings in Llangefni, Carmarthen, Mold, Machynlleth, Abertillery and Ebbw Vale. Also recently we invited viewers to give us their comments and over 200 viewers got in touch.
“The aim of Noson Gwylwyr S4C is to give viewers all over Wales and further afield the chance to contribute to the discussion about the Channel and its future at a vitally important time in its history. Communicating with the audience is all important for S4C. It’s an audience that thinks about our output and its opinion is not arbitrary.
“S4C exists for the benefit of its viewers and must ensure a regular platform for them to express their views. The S4C Authority has a responsibility to listen and to keep in touch with the viewers and we take every opportunity to do so.”
