Four members of staff from Caerphilly county borough council got on their bikes and travelled the length of Wales to help raise money for the Mayor’s charity.
Hugh Daniels, Paul Taylor, Chris Garrett and Stuart Wadlow tackled the gruelling 169 mile journey over the weekend. They left Caernarfon Castle on Saturday morning, passed through the Snowdon Mountain range before stopping for an overnight stay in Rhayader and arrived at Cardiff Castle on Sunday afternoon.
The new CCBC Mayor, Cllr James Fussell, was also keen to take an active role in the fundraising event so he joined the team on the final leg of their ride. James joined the group at Penallta House and from there they cycled together down to the finishing line at Cardiff Castle.
The Mayor was delighted that the team is helping to boost his charity appeals -Ty Hafan, the family hospice and Golden Grove, a charity which aims to purchase and restore a building for use as the first convalescent home for injured servicemen and women.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to the boys on their fantastic effort,” said Cllr James Fussell. “I would also like to thank everyone who pledged money to support the event and we now look forward to calculating the final sum that will help boost these two excellent causes.”
If anyone would like to donate money for this year’s appeal they can call Joy Thomas, the Mayor’s Assistant on 01443 864360.
