Following the successful sell-out of the Victorian Christmas Tours, Santa has decided to stay on at Cardiff Castle in the busy run-up to Christmas, to make sure he meets all the children who want to see him.
Santa will be in his grotto during the school Christmas holidays, from Saturday 18 December – Thursday 23 December 12noon – 4pm.
The Black Tower, one of the oldest and most historic parts of the Castle, will be the home for Santa’s Grotto. With presents stacked to the ceiling, Victorian toys on display, and tantalisingly beautiful lighting, this area of the Castle has been transformed into a magical space and an enchanting grotto. Santa will be waiting by the fireplace in his comfy armchair with time to chat and a present for every child.
Kevin Burt, Cardiff Castle Manager said, “We have been overwhelmed by the demand for our Christmas events this year. Over 1,200 people came on the Victorian Christmas Tours and although we added extra tours we still had to turn some people away. By persuading Santa to stay on, hopefully now everyone will have the chance to meet him.”
Cllr Nigel Howells, Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture added, “Christmas is one of the busiest times of year at the Castle. Over 1,000 school children from throughout south Wales will take part in the Christmas workshops in the Education Centre, the Christmas banquets are in full swing for groups and office parties and Icy, wintry conditions means that the Castle is at its most picturesque for our day-time visitors.”
