Santa hats galore in festive charity dash

Kindhearted people are being asked to don a Santa outfit and raise some money for a worthy cause on the weekend.

The annual British Heart Foundation Santa Jog is taking place in Singleton Park on Sunday November 28 from 12.30pm and event organisers are inviting people to register.

Participants can either walk, jog or run the 4km course while wearing their very own Santa suit.

Adults will receive a free Santa suit to wear and under 16s are encouraged to turn up in fancy dress.

All Santa suits are one size and will be posted out with registration packs.

Brynmill Lane will be closed from 11.45am to 1.30pm on the day and an alternative route for traffic will be available via Mumbles Road, Sketty Lane, Sketty Park Road, Dillwyn Road and Gower Road.

Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians to Brynmill Lane will continue to be available at all times.

Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “This is a wonderful event that gets people in the mood for Christmas and raises money for the British Heart Foundation at the same time.

“The sight of crowds of people jogging in their Santa outfits for a worthy cause is a terrific spectacle and people now also have a chance to make a festive day of it by visiting Waterfront Winterland after the event.”

Have a look at www.swanseachristmas.com or www.bhf.org.uk for information on how to register.
