Cardiff Council’s Trading Standards are warning owners of Sanyo microwave ovens about a safety issue following a recall issued by the manufacturer.
Sanyo has recalled the microwave oven having discovered that there is the potential of an electricity leakage which may cause a severe electric shock.
The recall affects models that were manufactured from February 2010 and sold in the UK from March 2010 until January 2012 with the model numbers EM-C8787B UK2 and EM-C8787W.

Only SANYO microwaves with the model numbers EM-C8787B UK2 and EM-C8787W are affected. No other SANYO microwaves are affected. No further action is required for microwaves that do not match these model numbers.
Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council, Councillor Judith Woodman, said: “Cardiff Council takes safety very seriously and I urge anyone with this make and model number to contact Sanyo immediately.”
A full refund will be given to anyone who has purchased one of the affected microwaves.
