The Visit Caerphilly Centre, on the Twyn in the shadows of Caerphilly Castle has just started selling a tasty, unique and exciting new product.
The Visit Caerphilly centre now stocks organic artisan Caws Cenarth cheeses including a traditional recipe Caerffili cheese. They are the only retail outlet in Caerphilly borough to stock this cheese. Whether buying the cheese as gourmet gift or a tasty treat – there’s a cheese for everyone.
Thelma Adams started making her family’s traditional recipe Caws Cenarth Caerffili commercially in 1987, along with other local recipes such as Lancych and Llain.
Thelma’s passion and skills soon saw her producing some of the finest organic cheeses in the UK and receiving such accolades as one of Rick Steins Super Hero’s in the BBC ‘Guide to the Food Heroes of Britain’.
The Caerphilly cheese sold at the Visit Caerphilly Centre is as traditional as the original Welsh farmhouse recipes of years gone by. All Caws Cenarth cheese are handmade – the curds hand cut, then hand moulded, hand salted and washed, hand turned, hand packed and labelled.
The traditional artisan cheese making skills passed down through the generations of the Adams family in West Wales have ensured the survival of one of Britain’s well loved regional cheeses.
All the cheeses are made at the family farm in Glyneithinog. Cwmcych, using organic pasturised milk, which is suitable for vegetarians.
So why not call into The Visit Caerphilly Centre and try some Organic garlic and herb, Caws Cryf, Cennin Cenarth, Caws Caerffili, Perl Las, Traditional Caerffili, Perl Wen and Smoked Caerffili.
Some varieties of Caws Cenarth cheese are sealed in wax so there is no need to refrigerate – making it ideal to buy as a gift or if travelling from further afield.
