The Scarlets under 16s face their toughest examination yet when they entertain the Ospreys in the WRU Age Grade Championship at Parc y Scarlets.
Successive victories over Gogledd Cymru, Blues South, Blues North and the Dragons has placed the region in poll position with four rounds gone.
Outside half Jordan Williams has been the guiding light for the Scarlets – his 71 points make him far and away the leading scorer in this season’s competition.
Williams bagged 16 points last time out when the Scarlets travelled to and conquered the Dragons in an outstanding game at Tredegar.
The Ospreys, who kicked off the season with a 31-7 success over Blues South have experienced mixed feelings since. The elation of a 15-12 victory over the Dragons was tempered by a somewhat surprising 19-17 defeat the previously winless Blues North.
Having eased to a bonus point victory against the South, the Ospreys have managed just 32 points in their last two games and will need to win this evening, if only to increase the pressure on the runaway leaders.
The other game of the night sees the Blues South entertain Blues North at Rumney RFC.
With home advantage likely to assist their bid, the South should be good enough to add a fourth victory in six matches against a North XV who have failed to live up to expectations.
The South won 19-14 in Colwyn Bay against Gogledd Cymru last time out, whilst for the North, their most recent game, at home to the Ospreys ended in a narrow but thoroughly deserved victory.
Team manager of the South, John Richards said; “We had a hell of a journey up to North Wales in our last game, but the boys stuck to their task well and were understandably delighted to come away with a win. Let’s hope we can do it again.”
