The Scarlets Under 18s will be looking to maintain their winning start to the season when they take on the Ospreys in the WRU Age Grade Championship at Llandarcy tomorrow (kick off 7.15pm).
However, despite a bonus point victory over Gogledd Cymru at Llandovery on Sunday, tomorrow’s examination against an Ospreys side boasting the likes of prolific scorers from last season, Bawdy Davies and Eli Walker, promises to be a great deal more exacting.
Team manager Rob Evans said; “It was a good start on Sunday, but we understand how difficult a challenge it will be going away to the Ospreys. Hopefully Sunday’s game will hold us in good stead.”
The Ospreys Under 16s get their campaign underway with a home game against Blues South at Corus (KO 7.15) whilst at the Arms Park, the Blues U18s entertain the Dragons.
It has been a busy time for the Blues over the summer pre-season games against Ulster and North Wales tied in with a spot of team building at an army base near Crickhowell.
Team manager Sophie Bennett has been delighted with the progress made over the summer weeks. “It has been hugely rewarding for the coaches and the players.
“We played North Wales and did well, went to Crickhowell as part of our team building and then finished up with an impressive 34-13 victory over Ulster U19s in Belfast.
“Our coaches Gethin Watts, Dale McIntosh and Darren Bool have been pleased with the way things have gone since the end of last season. Hopefully we can take that into the season and get off to a winning start.”
Dragons rugby manager Billy Vivyan said; “We made some decent progress last season and we would like tot hink we could make further strides this season. It’s a really tough game to kick off with, but we have prepared well and the guys are looking forward to it.”
