Jeanette Orrey, one of the UK’s most widely respected and inspirational experts on school food policy, will be speaking on Local Food for Local Schools at the Royal Welsh next week in a seminar organized by Organic Centre Wales (OCW).
Jeanette is working with OCW project on a project in Monmouthshire which is part of OCW’s Better Organic Business Links initiative to increase public understanding of sustainable food and farming, and in particular to promote awareness of organic food.

Throughout the show we’re being joined by organic producers and processors from around Wales. Talk to enthusiasts about thatching straw, protein crops or beautiful wool and textiles (Llynfi Textiles or Ystrad Organics). Meet Emily Davies from Capestone Organic Poultry, who will display chicken products.
The three main certification organisations in Wales – Soil Association Certification, Organic Farmers & Growers, and Quality Welsh Food Certification – will have stands in the marquee and producers can meet them over a coffee or talk to them about joining the organic evolution.
To round the show off on Thursday we’re giving visitors a chance to talk to Patti from the Treehouse organic food shop and restaurant in Aberystwyth about enjoying the best food. Patti, like Picasso, is an accomplished artist and will be illustrating the topics people want to talk about. Spend some time chatting to her and you could well feature in one of her famous cartoons.
