It seems the children at one Swansea primary school could teach a lot of adults a thing or two.
A report on Casllwchwr Primary School published this week by inspection body Estyn gave top marks across the board to the school with glowing praise for the pupils.
Inspector Glyn Robert Scott wrote: “The progress learners make in their personal, social, moral and wider development is outstanding.
“Almost all learners take responsibility for their actions, understand clearly their responsibilities to everyone involved in the school community and demonstrate honesty, fairness and tolerance in their work and play. ”
Casllwchwr was awarded the highest possible Grade 1 which means Good with Outstanding features in the seven main categories and, while the inspection team singled out the behaviour of pupils for praise, tribute was also paid to the sense of humour of staff.
The report read: “Teachers’ classroom management is outstanding. Through the use of praise, humour and innovative strategies they successfully create an ethos of well-being and mutual respect which promotes learning very effectively.
“The teamwork of all the staff emphasises the inclusive nature of the school where all interested parties’ contributions are heard and valued.”
The report makes happy reading for Head Teacher Simon Pridham who was cited for his outstanding leadership in the report.
Mr Pridham said: “May I take this opportunity to thank the entire community for their overwhelming support since I became Headteacher in September and especially leading up to and throughout the inspection period.
“I am very proud to say that I am Headteacher at Casllwchwr and the inspection team were extremely impressed with all areas of school life.
“Pupils’ behaviour and their attitudes to learning were noted as outstanding features of the school. As always but especially throughout the inspection they showed exemplary manners, maturity, care and mutual respect for everybody connected with the school.”
