Three Denbighshire Schools are celebrating achieving a top sporting honour.
Ysgol y Gwernant (Llangollen), Ysgol Twm o’r Nant (Denbigh) and Ysgol Hiraddug (Dyserth) have achieved ActiveMarc Cymru status, a quality award which has been developed between the Association for Physical Education and Sport Wales.
ActiveMarc Cymru is awarded to schools that demonstrate a commitment to developing high quality Physical Education adn School Sport for all children.
The award looks at four main aspects:
- The school and governors – Recognition of high quality work in the school and the wider community
- The teachers – Higher stats and profile of physical education and school sport in the school and wider community
- The pupils – Opportunity to experience a wide range of learning experiences
- The parents – Evidence of the school’s commitment to health and active lifestyles.
Councillor Eryl Williams, Cabinet Lead Member for Lifelong Learning, said: “I would like to congratulate the teaching staff on achieving this prestigious award. This is a tremendous achievement, demonstrating a huge commitment to raising standards of physical education and school sport within their schools.”
