School’s Out for summer

There’s plenty to keep youngsters active this summer with Bridgend County Borough Council’s ‘Schools Out’ programme.

The busy programme of fun and activities starts Monday 19 July and runs up to the end of August.

There’s something for young people of all ages and abilities including: football, arts and crafts, swimming, martial arts, theatre shows, circus skills, family fun days, dance, mountain biking, treasure hunts, snorkelling, music, gymnastics, cheerleading, surfing, storytelling, discos…plus lots more.

Activities are available in local leisure centres, swimming pools, schools, libraries, and community facilities, Bryngarw Country Park, the Berwyn Centre, Nantymoel and the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl and range from free of charge to different priced events. Some leisure centre-based sessions are also provided at a discounted rate with a Bridge Kids card.

Councillor Lyn Morgan, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing said: “Bridgend County Borough Council is proud to offer a wide range of new children’s activities for summer 2010. Our carefully-planned programme will give young people the chance to try a variety of fun activities that will keep them both physically and mentally active over the holiday period.

“We are also extremely grateful for the generous support of the borough’s town and community councils towards the development of the new Play 4 Life and community playscheme programmes that will offer a range of activities free of charge.”
