To celebrate World Book day, children from Bridgend County Borough schools have been competing for the coveted inter-school prize shield.
Newton, Nottage, Caerau and Cwmfelin schools battled against other county schools to be put through to the semi-finals, which was held at Pyle Life Centre earlier this month. Competitors had been asked to read a book which they would then answer questions about.
Children and their supporters cheered on the competitors and at the end of the second round scores were close. Eventually Newton and Cwmfelin made it through to the grand final where after a nail-biting round Cwmfelin beat Newton by half a point.
The event was well attended by competitors and supporters and Cwmfelin as winners were presented with the Bridgend Inter-school Book Quiz Shield.
