A search is currently underway in the Talsarnau area after police were alerted to the discovery of two sets of shoes on the beach.
A pair of children’s red wellington boots along with a pair of gents brown leather Clarks shoes were discovered on the tideline at around 2.30pm today (Tuesday, September 28).
To date no persons have been reported missing in the area and police are treating the incident as ‘suspicious circumstances’.
There is an island in the middle of the estuary and there is concern that someone may have ventured into the water.
A search of the estuary has been conducted involving the NWP helicopter and the coastguard and to date the search has proved negative.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information regarding the incident – or the owners of the shoes to contact officers immediately on 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line) 0845 6071002 (English language line) or 101. Police are also anxious to speak to anyone who has today been in the immediate area to where the shoes were discovered to contact officers at North Wales Police as they may hold vital information which could assist in our inquiries.
A ground search of the area is continuing at this time involving the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.
