Second Series of Fantasy Drama Set for Chepstow

AtlantisMonmouthshire’s record as a film and TV location has been enhanced by news that the BBC is to commission a second series of the sci-fi series Atlantis.  The fantasy drama set in a world of legendary heroes and mythical creatures is filmed in a former Tesco coldstore on the Newhouse Farm Industrial Estate near Chepstow.

Monmouthshire County Council’s cabinet member for Innovation, Enterprise and Leisure, County Councillor Bob Greenland said: “We’re delighted that another series of Atlantis will be filmed in Monmouthshire.  As well as the prestige that comes from being the home of a very popular TV series, we have gained significant economic benefits and jobs from this production and are very pleased that it will continue.

“Monmouthshire is a beautiful county with excellent transport links, a fantastic workforce and a great track record as a film and TV location.  We are sure that many other production companies will take notice and choose us as the home for future film and TV hits.”

The first series is currently midway through its run and has captured the imagination of families across Britain attracting an audience of over seven million viewers per episode.
