Seed grant will help new businesses grow

More businesses across the Heads of the Valleys area can now benefit from financial support following a change to the conditions of a new grant scheme.

Previously, the Heads of the Valleys Business Seed Capital Fund provided financial help to new start-ups in the region, but now certain existing businesses can also benefit.

Support is available to residents of the Heads of the Valleys setting up full time businesses (normally for the first time or after an absence from self employment); persons or enterprises located outside the HoV that are setting up or relocating full time businesses within the HoV area or existing businesses within the HoV undertaking new capital investment.

The flexible grant scheme is delivered through a partnership across the local authority areas of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Torfaen.

“Local firms need as much support as possible and this new grant scheme will be welcomed by businesses, particularly during these difficult economic times,” said Cllr Ron Davies, CCBC cabinet member for regeneration. “The council offers a range of support to local businesses and we are always happy to lend a hand, so our advice is get in touch to find out more.”

Generally businesses and start-ups in all business sectors may be considered (excluding retail). The business must be full-time and established in the Heads of the Valleys area. The individual must also be a resident of the Heads of the Valleys area.
