Wrexham County Borough Council currently has a limited stock of Senior Railcards for sale to residents of the County Borough who are aged 60 or over, at the discounted price of £19.99, a saving of over £6.00 off the current recommended retail price. Due to the recent national price increase, Wrexham County Borough Council will be amending the price to £22.50 from 4th January 2010; this will still represent a saving of £3.50.
Senior Railcards are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and allow the cardholder to one third off all Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance fares across the National Rail Network. For example a £30 fare would cost a Senior Railcard holder £20.
Councillor David Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport at Wrexham County Borough Council said “With many people planning to visit friends and relatives, or perhaps planning a day trip during the Christmas period, it is an excellent time to purchase a Senior Railcard to benefit from the savings available. I would urge local residents to take advantage of the current offer, not only during Christmas but to continue making savings in 2010. Wrexham County Borough Council are maintaining this popular concession as part of its on-going commitment to one of our three corporate priorities of Carbon Emissions and Energy Use Reduction”
The offer is exclusively available to all persons aged over 60 years, and who are residents of Wrexham County Borough. Senior Railcards can be purchased from Contact Wrexham, 16 Lord Street, Wrexham, by showing proof of residence and age.
