Drivers are urged to take care on the roads due to the severe weather.
Due to the prolonged period of cold weather, the supply of rocksalt is low, therefore we have had to limit the use of rocksalt to the treatment of our First Priority Route (main highways – over a quarter of the highway network in Gwynedd) only at the moment.
On back roads there are salt bins at strategic locations throughout the county, and the Council ensures they are restocked.
For details on road conditions contact the Traffic Wales hotline on 0845 6026020.
Useful information on how to drive safely in wintery conditions, and practical guidelines on how to prepare your home for winter can be found on the severe weather – emergency planning section on this website.
If an emergency arises due to snow or ice on the road, contact us on 01766 771000.
