Wrexham’s fashion and budget conscious students will be making a bee-line for the town’s busy Eagles Meadow shopping centre when it stages its third Student Takeover night.
The event, which caters exclusively for the town’s huge student population, takes place between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday (October 1).
Many stores will feature special offers to give a helping hand to hard-up youngsters with plenty of discounts and offers available and organisers will create a great atmosphere.
Topshop manager Jess Wills said: “I’m really excited about the Student Take Over. It’s a great opportunity for students to get that must have item at a bargain price.
“It’s not just about selling clothes. We want customers to have a great shopping experience.”
The Student Takeover has also been welcomed by Eagles Meadow manager Kevin Critchley who said: “It’s always a really great event and definitely attracts lots of student attention.
“There are thousands of students in and around Wrexham so it is a really important market for us and early evening events like this work really well.
“We will have loads stores taking part and many of them will have special offers and great discounts.
“This is the third year we have run the event and it’s just growing and getting better and better each time.
“Also as it takes place in the early part of the new university term it’s a great time to update your wardrobe before the winter really starts.”
“We’ve worked really hard with the students and the retailers to make sure there’s going to be more going on than ever with lots of promotions, music, activities and offers.
“We’ve had great support from the student unions as well and not only does this event offer students some incredible exclusive offers/discounts it also supports the city centre economy, vibrancy and the businesses.”
A host of outlets will be offering discounts, including 20 per cent off at River Island, H&M, Dorothy Perkins, Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s and 15 per cent off at Oasis and Warehouse concessions in Debenhams.
Sally Sookia, who is in charge of marketing at Eagles Meadow, said: “I know these events are very popular elsewhere so it’s great to bring it to Wrexham again.
“It means students don’t have to travel to find discounts and while they do tend to be fashion-conscious, they don’t usually have big budgets.
“There is a good range of shops at Eagles Meadow and they’re offering some excellent discounts on what should be a really fun night for the many students in Wrexham.
“It’s a really good way to show them that Eagles Meadow is a place where they can shop and that we have something for everyone and it should make for a really lively evening.”
Julie Cowley, head of marketing, recruitment and admissions at Glyndwr University said: “Eagles Meadow is a big favourite with students in Wrexham so I’m sure these offers will prove very popular.
“Some of retail’s biggest names are involved so it’s an opportunity for them to grab a bargain.
“We look forward to working closely with Eagles Meadow over the coming months on other events that will benefit Glyndwr University students.”
