Shotton fire – extensive investigations on going

North Wales Police have been carrying out extensive investigations into the fire on Shotton Lane, Shotton, since it was deemed a critical incident at 5.40 am today (Friday) by the Assistant Chief Constable, Gareth Pritchard.

At this early stage an investigation was commenced and a Senior Investigating Officer appointed. Enquiries were immediately launched and a significant number of officers and detectives have worked throughout the day to investigate all possible lines of enquiry. These have included viewing CCTV footage and extensive house to house enquiries.

The dangerous condition of the building has held up the joint on site investigation with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

ACC Pritchard said: “The North Wales Police launched a thorough investigation into the fire early this morning. Alongside this investigation we are also focusing on supporting all sections of the community to provide reassurance. North Wales Police are continuing to work with other agencies and key community leaders. We are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.”
