Sir Thomas Picton School has become the first secondary school to achieve the Silver Pembrokeshire Sustainable Schools Scheme.
The scheme, unique to Pembrokeshire, recognises efforts to improve quality of life and the environment without damaging the planet for future generations.
Eco warriors, Environment days and the Saving the Planet school newsletter have all contributed to the award, as has work pupils have done on biodiversity, global citizenship and transport.
“We recognise that as society evolves nationally and globally, our young people are increasingly being encouraged to consider their roles within it as custodians and beneficiaries of the environment,” said Tim Williams, Deputy Head.
“I’m delighted that Sir Thomas Picton School’s efforts in making the school a far more sustainable environment for everyone have been recognised.
“It truly has been a whole school effort with pupils and staff working together to achieve this award.”
The school were presented with their award by Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Learning and the Welsh Language.
