Sir Ranulph Fiennes, described as the world’s greatest living explorer, is the keynote speaker at the annual dinner of the South Wales Society of Chartered Accountants on Thursday (Oct 21).
Sir Ranulph, who has raised millions of pounds for charity by climbing Everest, was the first man with Charles Burton to reach both Poles and cross the Antarctic and Arctic Oceans. And eight years ago he also ran seven marathons in seven days on all seven continents – only 3½ months after a massive heart attack, a three-day coma and double bypass operation.
Clive Parritt, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), is the other principal guest at the dinner which takes place at City Hall in Cardiff.
David Lermon, Wales director of the ICAEW, said: “Nick Toye, the South Wales Society President, was absolutely delighted that Sir Ranulph accepted an invitation to our annual dinner.
“Sir Ranulph has had an amazing life of exploration and adventure while also raising vast sums for charity. Sir Ranulph is a truly inspirational figure. All our members are looking forward to hearing about his amazing life.”
