A series of police raids carried out across north Cardiff earlier this week (Wednesday May 21st) resulted in the arrest of six people and the recovery of some 100 cannabis plants, a quantity of Amphetamine and Cannabis with an estimated total street value of more than £50,000.
The day of action involved over 40 police officers from uniform and specialist units assisted by representatives from Cardiff County Council, Swalec, British Gas, Cardiff Magistrates court and the Department of Work and Pensions.
Detective Sergeant Paula Eveleigh-Williams, from Cardiff CID said: “The day’s activity was brought about as a result of intelligence gathered by officers, much of it provided by members of the public.
“In a planned series of raids, we targeted a number of addresses in Spolt, Tonqwynlais, Ely, Llanishen, Pentwyn, Tremorfa and Llanrumney. As a result six people were arrested. Three people, two women and a man have received police cautions and three men have been released on police bail pending further investigation.
“This type of community reassurance activity shows that we will not tolerate the production or supply of drugs in our communities.
“We are very grateful to the public who continue to support our work by providing us with valuable intelligence which results in positive days of action such as this.
“This was a great example of how a number of different agencies have been able to bring their resources together to combat crime and remove thousands of pounds worth of drugs from our streets.”
