A new Social Car Scheme is about to begin within the communities of Efail Isaf, Crown Hill and Maes y Celyn Estates, using a team of volunteer drivers registered with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
From 2 November 2009, residents will be able to book journeys between their home and the bus stops on the Main Road in Church Village or Llantwit Fardre where they can catch the frequent bus services to Pontypridd, Cardiff and the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.
This innovative scheme will operate on Mondays to Saturdays between 9.30am and 5pm and will be free of charge to residents. It will provide residents with a convenient and more flexible transport link to the shops and local facilities.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Customer Care Cllr Andrew Morgan said: “This is an excellent initiative and one that I am delighted to see introduced in the communities of Efail Isaf, Crown Hill and Maes y Celyn Estates.
“This will undoubtedly be of enormous benefit to those people who do not have their own mode of transport and rely heavily on public services and I hope they take advantage of the innovative scheme on offer.”
