A Denbighshire school choir is delighted that they have been shortlisted in the 2011 Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition.
Junior school, Ysgol Ben Parras in Ruthin, has recently received confirmation that they are one of 12 shortlisted schools (6 junior and 6 senior) to go through to the next round of the national competition.
Acting head teacher, Geraint Williams, said, “This is very exciting news for the school. To reach the semi-final stage of such a prestigious competition is truly a great achievement for all involved. The children and staff are all thrilled that their hard work and enthusiasm has been rewarded and they are looking forward to the next challenge.”
The semi-finals will be broadcast at the end of March 2011, when 3 choirs from each group will be picked to go through to the final.
