A popular Pembrokeshire pub is bringing South Africa to Solva in celebration of the World Cup. Lesca McGregor, who was born and raised in South Africa, is making the most of the event and giving customers the chance to sample some traditional dishes from her homeland.
Lesca, who runs the Harbour Inn with her husband Iain, has introduced a range of South African dishes to the menu. Between 11th – 18th June the specials board will include some old family recipes, like Cape Dutch Pie, Milk Tart and her Mum’s Bobotie & Malva Pudding.
And it’s not just about the food. In keeping with the South Africa theme, on the morning of Saturday 12th June WineLesca will be hosting a talk on animals native to South Africa and their tracks for local children. In the evening the pub will be lighting the braai (barbecue) and cooking boereworst, keudu steaks and impara sosaties. Rounding off the week on Friday 18th June will be a wine tasting and Boere Tapas evening, featuring fantastic wines and more home made food from South Africa.

“The World Cup has given us a great opportunity to introduce our customers to the food and drink of South Africa. They are dishes I know and love and hope our customers enjoy them as much as I do. And not forgetting the football, we will be showing all major matches on our large plasma screen in the garden (weather permitting), complete with waitress service.”
