Porthdinllaen RNLI crew members had a surprise visitor to the station on Friday, June 4 when Timothy and Shane Spall joined the crew on their weekly training exercise.
The actor, best known for his roles on TV programme Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and as Scabbers, Ron Weasley’s pet rat in the Harry Potter series, is currently travelling the coast on his boat The Princess Matilda for the next series of Somewhere at Sea.
The crew were delighted to invite the couple onto the all-weather lifeboat Hetty Rampton.
After returning from the exercise, Shane Spall wrote on their on-line blog:
“Tim and I are in complete awe of the RNLI volunteers, they are extremely special human beings… The beach audience were enthralled, busy taking photographs – not of Tim – but of the crew and the lifeboat, for they were the starts of this show.”
RNLI Porthdinllaen Station will be holding their annual Lifeboat Open Day on Sunday August 8.
