Flintshire County Council has improved the way it involves the public in the planning process.
The Planning and Development Control Committee usually meets every four weeks on a Wednesday afternoon from 2pm and is now taking place in a new venue at County Hall, Mold.
Previously held in the Council Chamber, it is hoped that the new venue, in the Alyn and Deeside Room, will provide a more comfortable venue for public speaking. Audio and visual equipment has also been installed to show plans for proposed developments.
Members of the public will be able to speak at the first Committee meeting an application is on the agenda but not at subsequent meetings if the application has been deferred or a site meeting requested. Those for and against applications plans and representatives from Town/Community Councils will have three minutes each to speak.
Anyone who has made written comments can request to speak at Committee but only one person will be allowed to speak for and another against the proposal. Anyone requesting to speak at the Committee must allow the Council to pass on their contact details to others who have also requested to speak with the same views. This allows those with similar views the chance to choose who is to speak.
At the Committee the Planning Officer will briefly introduce the application and outline the main points before the Chair calls forward the speaker against the application, followed by one in support and then the representative of the Town/Community Council.
To register to speak at the Committee call 01352 703286 or email [email protected] at least 48 hours before the meeting giving your name, contact details and whether you wish to speak for or against the item.
