For the third time this year Fishguard RNLI were turned out to go to the aid of the same white speedboat Stingray.
The boat with four adults and two children aboard suffered engine failure whilst located one and half miles NW of Dinas Head on Wednesday 20th April. One of the adults made contact with H.M.Coastguard by mobile phone and the inshore lifeboat, crewed by two volunteers, was despatched just after 3pm and arrived on scene at 3.20pm. Fortunately the sea state was very calm and it was a warm day but visibility was poor and the speedboat’s anchor had been lost overboard. Only the two children were wearing life-jackets.
The lifeboat RIB then undertook a long and slow tow of the speedboat, its occupants and an attached inflatable dinghy, back to Goodwick beach where H.M. Coastguard officers were waiting their arrival.
