Sport students taking part in the British Colleges Sport (BCS) National Championships proudly brought a host of medals back to Wales in April.
A group of 30 sport students from Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus competed against students from across the UK over three days at Bath University in sports including rugby, squash and trampolining – coming away with team and individual medals.
Medals were awarded as follows:
- Students Brook Jenkins, Megan Daley and Annie Bevan were part of the gold medal winning Welsh Women’s Rugby Sevens team
- Nia Kenward achieved silver for women’s squash
- Conor Lees won an individual bronze medal in men’s trampolining
- Students Conor Lees, Jack Williams and Liam Cox (Crosskeys Campus Coleg Gwent) and Dan Wood (Coleg Y Cymoedd) were part of the Welsh trampolining team, winning a team bronze.
Swimming results:
- Louise Bell won second place in both the 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke
- Matthew Eke won second place in 50m backstroke and third place in 100m freestyle swimming
- Tom Barron achieved 2nd place in 100m butterfly 3rd in 50m butterfly
Coleg Gwent students also took part in netball and cross country running.
Mererid Dark, Sport Lecturer at Crosskeys Campus, said: “We were delighted with the achievements of all the students at the National Championships, especially those who won medals. It is a credit to all their hard work.”
