Sporting boost for Gwynedd

A total of 13 sporting clubs and organisations throughout GwyneddGwynedd Council’s Sportlot Community Chest fund. have shared a funding boost of more than £7,000 through

Youth football teams and a cricket club will benefit from Sportlot funding along with a junior golf section and local swimming club.

David Lloyd-Williams, of Gwynedd Council’s Sport Development Team, said:

Gwynedd sports clubs and organisations offer fantastic opportunities for members of the public to keep fit, develop their sporting skills and meet new friends. We are delighted that so many Gwynedd sporting clubs have benefited from the most recent round of Sportlot funding.

“Sports clubs and organisations can benefit from grants of up to £1,000 through the Gwynedd Sportlot fund, and we would urge any group interested in applying for funding to get in touch for more information.”

Gwynedd Council’s
Sportlot grants are funded by the Sports Council for Wales.

The sporting clubs and organisations that have been successful in the latest round of Sportlot funding include:

Bro Enlli Bach – to expand the number of qualified coaches working with the football club in the Pen Llyn area.
St Deiniol Golf Club – to expand the Bangor area club’s junior section.
Gwynedd Crown Green Bowling Association – to fund training for the association.
Meirionnydd Ramblers – to fund a first aid course for the club’s members.
Eryri Vaulters – to purchase new equipment to enable more members of the equestrian club located at Penygroes and Caernarfon to take part in club sessions and competitions.
Mynydd Tigers Football Club – to fund coach education for the football club located at Mynydd Llandygai.
Grwp Ffit Blaenau – to establish a new keep fit club targeting young people in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area.
Llanbabo Football Club – to fund coach education as the club aim to re establish a club side in Deiniolen for next season.
Llanllyfni Football Club – to fund training for the club’s coaches.
Caernarfon Swimming Club – to purchase new equipment so that members can develop their skills.
Ysgol y Berwyn Parents, Teachers and Friends Association – to purchase sporting equipment for this association in Y Bala area.
Clwb Antur Menai – to fund training for this adventure club located at Plas Menai near Y Felinheli.
Pwllheli Cricket Club – to fund training for the club coaches

Applications to be considered for the next rounds of funding should be presented by 22 march with the applications considered in a meeting on 12 April.
