A number of sport clubs and organisations all over Gwynedd have reason to celebrate after receiving financial support from a special fund.
Through Gwynedd’s Community Chest Fund, eight clubs have received a total of £6,162 between them to promote keeping fit or improve current resources. From rugby to street dancing, the Chest support all kinds of sport across the county.
Sally Lloyd-Davies, Chair of Gwynedd Community Chest Committee said,
“Our sport clubs and organisations play a key role in our communities in Gwynedd. As well as developing all kinds of skills, the clubs give the people of Gwynedd the opportunity to keep fit and make new friends and therefore they play a key part in our communities.
“It’s great to see eight clubs gain from the recent round of the community chest fund. This shows that the Council continues to see the value of sport clubs to develop and nurture skills.”
Eight clubs have been successful on this occassion:
Dolgellau Netball Club – The club will use the funding to pay for a training course for three members.
Caernarfon Rugby Club – Funding support will allow a number of members to go on a first aid course, five members to go on level one training course and three members on a level two training course.
The Antelope Football Club – The club intends to use the funding to send two members on courses for football leaders, first aid and goalkeeper award.
Asperger Support Group / Autism Gwynedd a Môn – Funding will go towards offering swimming sessions for children and young people who have been diagnosed with austism. The funding will go to pay for hiring a swimming pool and instructor fees.
Second Chance Training – Application for grant to set up a fitness group for the community of Peblig Ward, Caernarfon.
Pwllheli Hockey Club – The club intends to use the money for three members to go on level one training and for one member to go on a level two training course.
Gwerin y Coed Dwyryd – Funding from the community chest will go towards the cost of setting up a new street-dancing club for children and young people in Penrhyndeudraeth.
Pwllheli Cricket Club – Will use the funding to pay for instructors’ training and the cost of mentoring new instructors.
