Streets in the Rhondda get a good clean up this spring.
As part of the Council’s commitment to keep our streets clean and green the Streetcare team have been out in force cleaning up the streets.
The latest clean-up operation saw the team visit streets in Ynyshir, Trealaw, Porth and Tonypandy in a bid to remove litter, fly tipping, clean graffiti, remove chewing gum, weeding and maintain green areas. The sweepers were also brought in to remove dead leaves and debris from the winter months.
The street blitzes were launched almost five years ago, as part of the campaign to make Rhondda Cynon Taf a cleaner and tidier place to live, work and visit and see the teams visit every area across the County Borough throughout the year.
Cllr Anthony Christopher, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Frontline Services said: “Much work goes into ensuring Rhondda Cynon Taf remains a clean, green place in which to live, work and visit.
“We are proud of our communities and open spaces and work proactively with residents to ensure they also have pride in, and take ownership of, where they live.
“We work with them to educate and raise awareness so they can play a part in protecting Rhondda Cynon Taf.
“The 2011 blitzes have got off to an excellent start, with visible results for the whole community.”
Street blitzes are set to continue in Cymmer, Trebanog, Williamstown and Llyncelyn over the next few weeks.
