Spring has officially arrived and summer holidays are following close behind.
Time to get fit, ready for swimming costumes and teeshirts and shorts.
A first class gym is here in the heart of the community with a qualified instructor to help you make a start.
Residents of all ages in Neath Port Talbot are being invited to join the ‘Active lifestyles Gym’ at Taibach Education Centre on Margam Road in Taibach, where the latest high tech exercise and fitness machines will challenge the fittest.
“The gym room is private and self contained and gives people the chance not only to have fun but also to socialise and make new friends,” says Head of Leisure Services, Russell Ward.
“But, more important, he added, “is that it is a chance for residents to improve their health and well being by being more active.”
Funding for the fitness equipment came from the Sports Council of Wales and is run by the Council’s lifelong learning team who strive to offer first class facilities at community centres.
Research shows that centre users’ needs change continually and the tem work hard to make sure that facilities provided are not only what residents want in the 21st century but are value for money as well.
The gym is open every day except Sunday.
Times are:
- Monday, Tuesday 9am-7pm
- Wednesday, Thursday 9am-5pm
- Friday 9am-9pm
- Saturday 10am-3pm
New members will need to have an induction course before using the equipment. A one off induction fee of £7.50 is charged and then people can either pay £2.50 a session or £20 monthly.
