Young players from Rhiwbina Squirrels U11’s rugby team recently took part in the Night in the Cells youth engagement project at Fairwater Police Station.
The players took part to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club. In fact by taking part the players managed to fundraise over £1000 for their club.
Each of the youngsters got a very real prisoner experience that included giving fingerprints, having mug shots taken, spending time behind bars and sampling custody food. They also got inputs on crime prevention and a visit from armed response officers.
The event was run by Sergeant Mark White who said “The project is a great way for the youngsters to get to know local officers and shows them the possible consequences of crime.”
