On Friday September 23 at 5.37pm, both St David’s All-weather and inshore lifeboats launched on service following reports of a person drifting in a dinghy off Caerfai Beach.
A member of the public had telephoned the coastguards to report what he thought was a person in difficulties.
A local coastguard team was dispatched to Caerfai Beach and reported that the dinghy had made it safely ashore.
After talking to the first informant and the person from the dinghy, they cancelled the call as no further assistance was required.
Both lifeboats returned to station rehousing at 6.03pm.
The incident was treated as a false alarm with good intent.
