St David’s RNLI lifeboats rescue man from rocks

Both St David’s RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats were launched by their volunteer crews at 10.30pm on Thursday 21 July to rescue an intoxicated man on rocks in Solva harbour.

Both lifeboats made their way to Solva, arriving within 25 minutes. Police officers had received a report of a man in a dinghy in harbour, who was intoxicated and was shouting at members of the public. The officers had made several attempts to get the man to come ashore but he refused to do so.

The all-weather lifeboat illuminated the area and the man was found to be clinging to some rocks after falling out of his dinghy. After a period of time, the inshore lifeboat crew managed to persuade the man to come aboard the lifeboat. They took the man and his dinghy back to the shore, where he was handed into the custody of police officers.

Also in attendance was a local coastguard team. Both lifeboats returned to station, rehousing at 11.40pm.
