Carmarthenshire County Council staff are being offered lifestyle health screenings as part of the authority’s support for International Women’s Day.
The council’s Occupational Health team have set aside the morning of Monday, March 8, for any members of staff – male and female – that want a better understanding of the risk factors associated with their lifestyles.
The free screenings include advice on lifestyle issues such as cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and general heath and well being.
Fitness For Work Manager, Heidi Mountfield-Font, said: “As an authority employing more than 9,000 staff, we value the health and wellbeing of our employees.
“International Women’s Day seemed like a good day to hold the free screenings, when people’s attention will be brought to wellbeing issues across the world.
“We hope that our staff will take us up on the offer, and get a better understanding of how their lifestyles could be affecting their health. Our occupational health teams can then offer advice on ways to decrease the risks of developing conditions in the future.”
Cllr Philip Hughes, executive board member for Human Resources and people management, said: “This is a good opportunity for our staff to take control of their health and wellbeing. A healthy and fit workforce is important to us as a diverse authority that relies on staff to deliver services to the county’s residents.”
