Staff face 3 Peaks Challenge for Charity

Fit and energetic Glamorgan Business School staff members Professor Stephen Hill, Julian Williams, Caryn Hill, Dr Simon Brooks and Professor Arthur Morgan, with support from Wil Williams, took part on the 12th June in the annual GE AS Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the Welsh children’s charity Ty Hafan.

Starting at 4.30am on Saturday 12th of June, at Pen y Pass in Snowdonia, north Wales, the team ascended and descended Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales) within three and a half hours; they walked up and down Cader Idris (mid Wales) within four hours and ten minutes before racing up and down Pen y Fan, Brecon Beacons (south Wales) in one hour and forty five minutes.

Professor Arthur Morgan said: “The team completed the challenge by 7pm on Saturday evening having walked over 20 miles within 15 hours, we arrived home just in time to watch England play the USA, in the World Cup.

The team, including Dr Martin Rhisiart who unfortunately was forced to drop out a the last minute, raised in excess of £1200 for Ty Hafan. Our thanks to all those who supported us and provided sponsorship, especially Tudor Williams in the University of Glamorgan Sports Centre.”
